The Union Internationale de la Patisserie, Confiserie et Glacerie (U.I.P.C.G.)
The All Japan Confectionery Association joined the Union Internationale de la Patisserie, Confiserie et Glacerie (International Association of Confectioners, Pastry Cooks and Ice-Cream Makers, U.I.P.C.G.) in 1962, the year after its foundation. The U.I.P.C.G. allows only one organization to represent each country in the Union. The All Japan Confectionery Association is the organization that represents Japan within the U.I.P.C.G., and it is entitled by virtue of its position to refer to itself as the Japanese Headquarters of the U.I.P.C.G.
The U.I.P.C.G. has its headquarters in Luxembourg and is an international organization bringing together a total of 22 nations: Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Greece, Italy, Poland, South Korea, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Tiwan and Japan. The U.I.P.C.G. was founded in 1954, nearly a decade after the end of the Second World War. This was a time when European union was on the agenda and when the embryonic form of the subsequent European Union was in the process of coming into being. Almost 60 years have now elapsed since the election of the International Association's first chairman, Mr. Zurcher of Switzerland. The current chairman is Mr. Janos Pataki of Hungary. The tasks of the International Association are expressed in its statutes as follows:
- To use all the means at its disposal to represent the interests of confectioners, pastry cooks and ice-cream makers at international and national levels with the competent authorities, institutions and organizations in the fields of economics, science, vocational training and education.
- To support the affiliated member associations in the fulfilment of their legal tasks and tasks in accordance with the statutes.
- To urge confectioners, pastry cooks and ice-cream makers to produce high-quality products and increase the reputation of members among the general public.
The U.I.P.C.G. is thus an international organization whose aim is to provide assistance on the basis of mutual efforts on an international scale in order to enable confectionery enterprises engaged in the manufacture of high-quality produce to improve their social and economic status through their own efforts and to ensure that the confectionery industry remains one in which all its practitioners can take pride.
